Stretch Marks and Microdermabrasion
The modern skin care treatment called Microdermabrasion is a technique which has been medically proven to be incredibly effective in reducing the visibility of stretch marks. As well as being good for stretch marks this procedure is also extremely effective in the fight against the effects of aging upon the skin. So it will come as not surprise that Microdermabrasion is the most popular skin care treatment available today.
Often referred to as a “sandblasting of the face” due to the methods and processes involved in the treatment, microdermabrasion removes dead and dying skin cells with the aid of fine, medical grade, crystals. The crystals are forced onto the face, by a special machine, via a wand which then sucks up the residue. By the removal of dead skin cells and dirt the treatment encourages the skin to renew and the production of collagen is increased. Because of this the procedure is excellent for the removal of stretch marks and minor scars, such as acne scars.
Many consider microdermabrasion a miracle treatment, however effective it may be in treating the skin this is something of an exaggeration but it must be said that sometimes the results are truly astounding. So, if you suffer from extremely deep stretch marks or acne scars they may not be removed completely, even after the recommended ten sessions. Though the overall visibility will be vastly reduced the only real option in such cases is a more radical cosmetic procedure and it is strongly advised that you seek professional medical advice at your earliest opportunity.
However, if you only suffer from minor stretch marks and you wish to have them removed you will find that microdermabrasion is capable of removing them. It has been proven medically that this treatment can easily remove some crow’s feet ( the very fine lines that can be seen coming from the external corners of the eye). It can certainly reduce the apparent depth of scars to such a degree that they are no longer visible (or at least not so noticeable without close inspection).
Isn’t it strange that some pregnant women end up with stretch marks while others don’t? The reasons for this are somewhat complicated but much has to do with the elasticity of the persons skin. If the skin is stretched too much it can lead to damage to the collagen and, ultimately to it’s collapse which, in turn, leads to the formation of stretch marks. Microdermabrasion tackles the problem by stimulating the natural healing processes of the skin and enhancing collagen production.
Many pregnant women attempt to avoid stretch marks from developing by using some of the many products available which claim to work miracles. As with any “miracle” product it is common for results to vary from person to person making assessment of their effectiveness rather difficult. Nearly all such products aim to increase the skin’s elasticity by moisturizing it deeply. Unfortunately even when using these products women can still develop stretch marks but it could be claimed that without using them these women could have had far worse stretch marks.
If you have just given birth it is advisable that you care for yourself and your skin. You need to recover as quickly as possible and a good diet it crucial to early recovery. The application of skin creams and other skin care treatments may be a good idea but it would be worth seeking medical advice rather than self medication.
More and more women are choosing to take a weekend away to visit a health spa. At these health spas you can try out a vast variety of treatments and generally relax. As many such places offer microdermabrasion this could be the perfect opportunity to try it out for the first time.
