Turning Challenge into Triumph

by Healthy Wealthy nWise

Lisa Nichols, founder and CEO of Motivating the Teen Spirit LLC, is a dynamic motivational speaker. She was a feature in Rhonda Byrne’s “The Secret”, and even though her English teacher thought she was one of the worst writers ever, Lisa has two book deals with the highly successful “Chicken Soup for the Soul” series.

Motivating the Teen Spirit has changed the lives of at least 60,000 teens and their parents. The organization has prevented over 1,800 suicides, and it has encouraged nearly 1,000 high school dropouts to return to school. Teens everywhere have been reunited with their parents.

Lisa Nichols has had a passion for helping people since she was a teen herself. She remembers praying as a child that God would get her through her tough times and show her how to later help others as well. Because Lisa was emotionally illiterate in her teens, she has decided to put most of her focus on teens today. She was an outgoing, social person, but she knew her emotions weren’t what they should be.

There is no “magic fairy dust” that turns us into the greatest of society. There’s no, “Poof! You’re successful.” Lisa believes she is a product of a lifetime of learning. Opportunities come and go. Lessons to be learned rise and fall. Each challenge in life must be seen as an opportunity to grow and thrive, not fail.

Lisa Nichols always wanted to be a public speaker. In fact, she believed it was something God was leading her to do. Unfortunately, Lisa was a lot like Moses in the Bible - afraid to speak. She even got a “D” in her speech class at school. How could she be a public speaker? Lisa dwelled on her fears for five years before finally acting.

Your passion might not be public speaking, but everyone has a passion for something, and nearly everyone struggles at some point to put that passion first in their life. Lisa’s fear wasn’t only the speech part of her passion, it was the insecurity of going out on a limb. She already had a six-figure income with benefits to support her young daughter. Why leave that?

We just face our fears. Don’t let the seemingly secure life keep you from reaching your real goals. Are you happy with your life? Are you TRULY happy with your life? Is there anything you could change or make better? If so, you’re not truly happy, and you need to face whatever fear is holding you back.

Lisa decided to overcome her fears by studying speech, facilitation, and entrepreneurship. Before her confidence and credibility would allow her to start charging a fee, she worked with teens for free. She’s happier than she ever thought possible, and her fears of speaking and security are gone. Get out there and face your fears, too. You’ll be happy you did!
