You won’t go far wrong when trying to make the woman in your life happy if you decide to buy her a new handbag - and if it happens to be a Prada handbag - even better!

I guess it is simply a judgment call and the need to determine if your desire for a Prada handbag is large enough, that you would be willing to settle for a fake or just wait until you can afford the real thing.
