Reduce your Laptop costs
Desktop computers are made to be sturdy, reliable, but they occupy a lot of space, and, plus, you cannot take them with you when on a business trip or a vacation. On the other hand, a laptop does all that and even more. A laptop is light - compared to your desktop computer - , its performances are good and you can use it wherever you want. However, there are situations when the laptop can prove to be not so handy.
It is true, you can take your laptop with you whenever you travel, or just for a quick trip in the park outside the house. But keep in mind that the life of a laptop battery is on the short side, so if you find yourself in the situation of recharging it, without an outlet nearby, you cannot do much about it. Another downside is that, due to the small size of these computers, they are easy to steal, so keeping an eye on your gadget is highly recommended. Despite these disadvantages, you still have ways to enhance your laptop experience and we are about to show you how.
Tip: Prolong the Battery Life
As said before, laptops work with batteries that are not fit for long runs. Still, you can enjoy your laptop for a longer time, if you know how to squeeze your battery juice to the fullest. This strategy that we are about to show you can save you a few hours of stress until you reach a place with an outlet where you can recharge the battery.
The laptop screen is the biggest consumer that drains the life out of the battery. So, in case that you do not need a bright screen in order to complete your work, reduce the light and the configuration to the lowest values. This way, you will have more juice in the laptop battery and it will work more than just 6 hours.
Making Backups
No matter how sturdy a laptop can look on the outside, you should know that the components inside are delicate enough that a hard knock can inflict serious damage. From all of them, the one that you must be most protective of is the hard drive, the component where all your data is stored. What you need as an assurance is a serious backup. Make a habit out of saving your files and documents from the laptop onto CD-R’s, DVD’s and thumb drives. This way, any possible damage will be minimized.
Hire a Watchdog
Sharing your files over the Internet is far from being a good idea, if you are interested into keeping your laptop as safe as possible. With a laptop at hand, you can connect to wireless networks, and this can become a gateway for viruses and spywares, in case you do not have installed a reliable firewall, like ZoneAlarm.
Also, there is no better protection than encryption. In order to protect your data, in case your laptop gets stolen by evil doers, use an encrypting tool so you will be the only one able to access the documents on your computer.
Keep Out From the Heat
Laptops can get hot after a few hours of usage and can get very uncomfortable if its sitting on your lap. They sell laptop sleeves that’ll keep the heat away from your skin. If anything, get an old shirt and place it under so your skin isn’t in direct contact with the escaping heat.
Laptops are simply more convenient than desktop computers and nobody can deny it. PC producers are more and more oriented towards making the old style computer more space saving, but, even with the revolution of LCD screens, you still need a sturdy desk to keep all the components in the same place. As for laptops, with the advice we have given you this far, you will get to enjoy them even more.
